Community Relations
Corporate citizenship plays an important role in strengthening the communities in which we live and work.
Community relations
Ameriprise Financial is dedicated to using the firm's resources, talents and volunteer time to improve the lives of individuals and build strong communities. Through grant-making, volunteerism, and employee and advisor gift-matching programs, the company supports a diverse group of over 5,000 nonprofits across the country.
Investing in communities
At Ameriprise Financial, giving back is ingrained in our culture. We've initiated positive change in the communities where we live and work for more than 110 years. As a company, and as members of the Ameriprise Financial family, we value what it means to give back — donating our time and money and sharing the many talents of our people with a variety of nonprofit partners across the country.
We focus our efforts in three key areas:
Meeting basic needs
We support programs and services that help at-risk populations stabilize their lives and become more self-sufficient.
Food
We support food shelves, emergency food networks, community-based organizations and capacity building which helps nonprofits serve more people.
Shelter
We fund organizations that provide transitional housing, help people achieve and maintain home ownership and support neighborhood development.
Self-sufficiency
We work closely with organizations that help individuals gain financial life skills, prepare for work readiness and ease job transitions.
Supporting community vitality
We believe communities should be strong, healthy and resilient. We want livable places for all, where neighbors look out for one another, recycling is the norm, cultural events draw crowds and people pull together in times of crisis and joy.

Your causes
We recognize that our employees, advisors and retirees care deeply about their communities, so we want them to help determine where and how a portion of our support is directed. The combined impact of our individual efforts, team volunteer projects and corporate events demonstrates the culture and values of Ameriprise Financial and recognizes the many nonprofit organizations that have captured the interest of our people.
Ameriprise Financial Community Partners Program
In our headquarters location of Minneapolis, more than 2,500 employees contribute more than 15,000 volunteer hours annually through company-sponsored projects. Our advisors and employees across the country are involved in their local communities, sharing both their talents and their time.
Ameriprise Financial Employee and Advisor Gift Matching programs
Ameriprise Financial currently matches employee contributions to all eligible nonprofit organizations up to an annual maximum of $5,000 per employee. We also recognize the volunteer service and monetary donations made by our advisors through the Advisor Gift Matching Program. Eligible advisors who serve as board members or volunteer more than 50 hours a year receive a gift match to the organization where they volunteer up to $2,000 annually.
About Ameriprise
Ameriprise Financial matched employee and advisor donations of more than $2.3 million through the Gift Matching Program and Employee Giving Campaign in 2007. The result was $4.6 million given to nonprofit organizations around the country.
