Making a difference in the places where we live and work
Through grants, volunteer programs, and employee and advisor gift-matching, we’ve initiated positive change in our communities. Donating time and money and sharing the many talents of our people, Ameriprise Financial supports a diverse group of more than 5,000 non-profits across the country.
Meeting basic needs
We support programs and services to help at-risk populations become more self-sufficient. For example, in March 2009, we announced a charitable partnership with Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. The company provided an initial $500,000 grant to help provide 3.5 million meals. Since then, with company, employee and advisor donations, we have helped provide more than 16 million meals. In addition, we have pledged ongoing volunteer support to Feeding America and other hunger-relief organizations, with the goal of dedicating more than 50,000 volunteer hours.
Other efforts to help meet basic needs include:
- Transitional housing to help people achieve and maintain home ownership and support neighborhood development
- Financial life skills, work readiness and job transitions

Our employees, advisors and retirees care deeply about their communities, so they help us determine where and how our support is directed. From corporate and individual efforts to team volunteer projects, our efforts reflect the interests of our people.
Ameriprise Financial Community Partners Program
In our Minneapolis headquarters, more than 2,500 employees contribute thousands of volunteer hours annually through company-sponsored projects. Our advisors and employees across the country are involved in their local communities, sharing both their talents and their time.
Ameriprise Financial Employee and Advisor Gift Matching programs
Ameriprise Financial currently matches employee contributions to all eligible nonprofit organizations up to an annual maximum of $2,000 per employee. We also recognize the volunteer service and monetary donations made by our advisors through the Advisor Gift Matching Program. Eligible advisors who serve as board members or volunteer more than 50 hours a year receive a gift match of up to $2,000 annually to the organization where they volunteer.
Ameriprise Financial Employee Giving Campaign
Ameriprise employees can contribute to non-profit organizations or featured federations as a way to increase their donations to the community. The Employee Giving Campaign is a way for employees to make a collective difference by supporting the communities in which we live and work.
